WHAT PEOPLE ARE SAYING

DEBORAH ANN WOLL

Actor, Writer, RPG Storyteller

I had such a blast watching Gavin’s courses. Yes I’m an actor and his approach speaks to me but believe it or not, we are all actors. We all naturally know how to play make believe, actors simply spend our lives investigating the nuances of how and why so we can go deeper.

This is what Gavin breaks down in clear and relatable language in these courses. Instead of copying your favorite GMs he helps you learn the techniques that actors have used for centuries to become YOUR best GM. Mostly, the courses are inspiring and exciting. You’ll leave a class and want to jump right into practice and gameplay. Have fun!!

BANANA CHAN

Game Designer, Writer and GM

Gavin’s GMing videos feel extremely relevant to me, as an anxious GM/game designer who lives too much in their head when focused on player interactions with the mechanics.

His encouragement to breathe, slow down and be aware of my energy is so helpful, because I often forget myself when I’m GMing. Thank you for helping me stay present!

“So apart from being an extremely talented storyteller and very clear instructor, Gavin has the most important GM skill of all: he makes you as a player feel safe.

He makes you feel as if you’re allowed to explore the world, that anything is possible and even if it’s a terrible idea, he’ll be there to help guide you through it.”

  • I attended as a player and found the focus on physicality first before jumping into the more cerebral aspect of a character as well as the grounding of the seminar content in classical theater techniques to be fascinating. It could be great to add a bit more hands on components. I know this is tough if people are shy but I think some would love the chance to try some of the content out in a practical exercise. Thanks for a great seminar.

  • I went to quite a few seminars, and this was by far my favorite one. It was so helpful from the perspective of a GM, and just as helpful from the perspective of an aspiring performer. I'm definitely going to use all of the tips, tools, and information I received for any acting I may do in the future, and even for my classical vocal performances.

  • Gavin was extremely well spoken on this and the seminar was well paced and easy to follow. I very much appreciate these tips from an expirenced and trained actors point of view as their skills are perfectly transferable to the table. Other than table top gaming, it is something I dont have a lot of expirience with myself. 10 out of 10. Highly recomended and thanks for the advice!

  • Your translation between acting to TTRPG is quite distinct. I’m not an actor and I really enjoyed being given some tools to role play better.
